Justices Give Their Blessing to Gay Adoptions

Brazilian government leaders in Congress approved on Tuesday night the controversial reform of the public sector pensions system. The government was forced to give ground on a number of key elements in the reform. A salary ceiling for state judges was set at a higher level than the government proposed (85,5%); retired workers receiving up to five times the minimum wage, currently R$1,200 (US$400) a month, wore exempted from social security contributions; and civil servants will be able to retire on full pay of up to 10 times the minimum wage.

"It's nonsense. I don't know what they are talking about. And therefore the story has no source or basis in the beginning; and most of it is just all gossip and speculation.” Powell said.
