NH council to take up Supreme Court nominations

New Hampshire's Executive Council will vote this week on whether to confirm Linda Dalianis (dah-LAY'-nuhs) as the state Supreme Court's first female chief justice.

Gov. John Lynch tapped Dalianis to replace Chief Justice John Broderick, who has been named dean of the University of New Hampshire School of Law.

Lynch also nominated Superior Court Chief Justice Robert Lynn to serve on the Supreme Court.

Lynch, a Democrat, is moving ahead with the nominations before a new, all-Republican Executive Council is sworn in in January. The council's current makeup is three Democrats and two Republicans.

The council takes up the nominations Wednesday.
