Presentation: Araújo e Policastro's head Office is located in the city of São Paulo, Latin America's main business and industrial hub. Founded in 1962, the Law Firm was originally located in the city's downtown area, near the University of São Paulo Law School and the state and federal courts. In 1987, however, the development of new commercial centers in the city led the firm to move to Avenida Faria Lima, one of São Paulo's chief business points. Finally, in the year 2007, following the approval of a nationwide expansion policy, the branch office in the state of Rio de Janeiro was opened. By the late 1960's, the firm had already developed its general corporate and litigation practices. Even before the international legal practice in Brazil grew dramatically in the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's, the firm had developed an internationally-oriented practice. Over the years, the firm diversified its practice and expanded into other areas, including telecommunications, energy, oil and gas, intellectual property, banking, finance, securities, privatizations, environmental and antitrust. The lawyers of the firm have received the best schooling from the finest institutions in Brazil, the U.S. or Europe and many have also worked at law firms in various countries. They perform up to the standards of the international legal community and are capable of meeting clients' legal needs in a prompt and efficient manner and of providing accurate and comprehensive responses to client's inquires. Araújo e Policastro was included in the Publication "Latin America's Leading Business Law Firms", by Latin Lawyer (London, 2002) and listed by the Global Competition Review as one of the best 100 law firms in the world in the area of competition law (London, 2006). ABy adhering to its vision of delivering personalized, high- quality services to its client, the firm has been able to grow and diversify while maintaining its profile.
